Shipping Policy

Unless otherwise arranged, we ship FOB origin, prepay freight and add. This means we pay the freight charges and add it to your invoice.

All orders, when possible, are shipped via UPS ground service. Shipping & handling charges for all our merchandise is based on size of the shipping cartons, shipping weight, and destination zip code. Items ordered together are not necessarily shipped simultaneously.

Products that exceed the size limitations of UPS will be shipped via motor freight. You own the merchandise while it is in transit. If there are any damage claims, you as the buyer must file against the trucking company and will receive compensation directly from them. We do this because we are not there to personally inspect/accept the shipment when it arrives. We do not know your dock, receiving conditions, or staffing.

Customers may elect to use their own UPS number and can choose a motor freight carrier.

The transportation company is responsible for the delivery of your merchandise from the time it leaves our manufacturing facility to the time it arrives at your location. It is your responsibility to check for damaged merchandise before the truck driver leaves.

UPS insures all UPS shipments for damage and missing packages. Almetek is not responsible for any physical damage to products caused by the shipping company.

In the unlikely event your merchandise arrives damaged, mark all shipments as “Damaged in Transit” with a description of the damage. You may elect to refuse the shipment, or accept it and file a damage claim. You must notify the shipping company within ten (10) days after receipt of the claim.

Occasionally, a wrapped package will look fine on the outside but have a dent or puncture once it is unpacked. This is referred to as “concealed damage”. Notify the trucking company immediately and request an inspection by the carrier. The trucking company is not liable for transit damage unless notified within (10) days from receipt of merchandise.

If you file a damage claim, keep all original shipping containers and outside wrapping. The transportation inspection agent will want to see it.

It is extremely useful to have photographic evidence of any damage. If you can, take digital photos and email them to us as it helps us to understand the extent of the damage and assist you in talking with the transportation company. Final settlement of the claim is between you and the transportation company.

In the event a customer refuses delivery after the merchandise has shipped from the factory, the customer will be responsible for all UPS charges to and from the shipping location and a restocking fee.

In the event a customer cancels an order after the merchandise has been shipped from the factory, the customer will be responsible for all UPS charges to and from the shipping location and a restocking fee. Refer to the Return Goods Authorization Procedures.

Shipping and handling is not eligible for credit on returned or refused product. For orders shipped to Illinois, Michigan, Nevada, New Jersey, South Carolina, and Washington, the appropriate sales tax will be added on all shipments. Final price is determined with shipping charges and tax (if applicable). Government, municipalities and towns must provide a tax-exempt certificate.

Shipping time on backordered items varies. The customer will be contacted via email or phone if an item is out of stock and must be backordered. At that point, the customer can either choose to wait for the item or remove it from their order. If they choose to wait, the backordered item will be shipped out automatically as soon as it is made.
