Almetek Industries, Inc. will be closed on Friday 4/18

Family Owned for 50 Years

Albert Burlando, Founder and Chairman of Almetek Industries, Inc., started the business in the basement of his two-story home in Staten Island, New York in 1975. His first employees included his wife, Joyce, and two daughters, Donna and Lori. At the ages of 12 and 10, his daughters learned how to screen print and manufacture Almetek’s very first finished product called EZ TAGS. The business was expanding rapidly in those early years, so Albert started knocking down walls in the lower level of their house to make space for more machinery and supplies. Meanwhile, the upstairs family room became the marketing room where Joyce, Donna, and Lori assembled direct mail packets to send to potential customers.

Almetek continued to grow and in 1977, Albert made the big decision to move his family and the business to New Jersey. Within two years, Almetek had to move two additional times to accommodate its growing operations. In 1986, Albert decided to purchase land and have a custom 42,000 square foot manufacturing facility built in Hackettstown, New Jersey. We are still at this facility and currently employ over sixty-five manufacturing and office personnel.

As part of the second generation, Donna and Lori decided to pursue higher education. Donna received her bachelor’s degree in computer and information systems from Kings College while Lori attained her bachelor’s in business and marketing from Seton Hall University. They returned to Almetek in 1987 and worked in various departments across the company to broaden their knowledge of its intricate operations and processes. Eventually, they were both married but continued to work in the family business while growing their families. In 1990, Donna Quagliana and Lori McMahon started their own women-owned business called Lordon Inc. that sells primarily to the traffic safety industry. Donna serves as President and Lori as Vice President of the company.  Although Lordon Inc. is independent from Almetek, it is a key distributor of Almetek products.

Years later, Donna branched off from her original role at Almetek to become the Operations Manager for EZ Storage Inc., while Lori became the CEO of Almetek. Between the two sisters, they have over thirty-eight years of business management experience. Donna’s husband, Mike Quagliana, joined Almetek in September 1991 as the President. He is responsible for overseeing Customer Service, Sales, Manufacturing, and Purchasing. Lori and Mike have built a strong and highly skilled management team who are instrumental to the success of our family-owned and operated business. It is with immense pride that we credit the success of Almetek to its founder, Albert Burlando, for building the solid foundation we stand on. We also credit Almetek’s success to all our dedicated employees, some of whom have been with the company for over twenty-five years. Almetek Industries, Inc. could not attain this success without the support of our hard-working team members.

We are pleased to announce the third generation of family members who have decided to join Almetek and continue the legacy of their grandfather, Albert Burlando. Matthew Quagliana joined Almetek in May 2023 as a District Sales Manager. Matt attained a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and business administration from Slippery Rock University then began honing his business management skills at other companies before joining Almetek. As a District Sales Manager, Matt has grown his understanding of the business’ processes and operations while forming strong connections with our customers and sales representatives. He is heavily involved in the Customer Service and Sales departments. Matt’s current goal is to automate processes in the Customer Service department and make Almetek fully paperless in 2025.

Lori McMahon, CEO, is pleased to announce her daughter, Jenna McMahon, will be joining Almetek in the summer of 2025. Jenna earned her bachelor’s degree in business management and her master’s in business administration from West Chester University. She shortly after joined Cintas First Aid and Safety as a management trainee for 16 months before being promoted to a New Business Sales Representative. She has held that position for nearly two years and was awarded Rookie of the Year at her location and continues to drive new business for the central Pennsylvania market. Jenna has always had a passion for business and wants to expand and grow operations, increase efficiency, and overall build on the great company culture that’s been evolving for 50 years.

We are excited to welcome Jenna and Matt as the third generation of the family business and we wish them much success in their roles at Almetek Industries, Inc.

Almetek thanks our valued clients for their business, and we welcome the opportunity to serve you for decades to come!
